Who?
Whistles, launched in 1976 by Lucille Lewin as a designer boutique, with design at its heart, and soon became a desirable, contemporary, aspirational label. The Whistles name originally derived from the cockney rhyming slang, "whistles and flute", which translates as "suit".
In 2002 Whistles was acquired by Karen Millen, which is now part of Mosaic Fashions, and then in 2008 was bought out of Mosaic Fashions by a management team headed up by Jane Shepherdson, formerly Brand Director of Topshop.
Whistles currently trades from 34 standalone stores and 36 concessions in the UK and Ireland, with 7 international franchise stores and one international company owned store.
What?
BT Fresca have created a new e-commerce website for Whistles, powered by Fresca Commerce, the e-commerce services from BT Fresca. This stunning new site takes online boutique fashion shopping to new levels of usability and customer experience. Innovative interactive elements for the web customer have been implemented, for example the site offers a ‘virtual boutique type experience’ so, rather than the normal product listings the shopper can visualize the fashion outfits and brands in room settings, making the online experience both intriguing and fascinating.
Fresca Commerce is fully integrated with the Mercatus buying and merchandising system from BT Expedite and with the systems of third-party logistics and fulfilment provider Amethyst providing a truly seamless customer experience.
The transactional site was launched 16th October 2007.
